Nuit Blanche is a free, public arts event. This all-night celebration draws millions of visitors and Parisians alike. Every district of the capital puts on its own program of music, theater, or exhibitions. It's the perfect opportunity to discover art on every street corner across a wide range of themes.

Each district designs new treasure hunts and riddle-filled trails every year to entertain children. The games revolve around contemporary art. Kids also get to discover the enchanted world of fairy tales, ballads, and poetry over an impromptu snack.

Tips

Night visits require top-notch planning to avoid trouble getting there and back. With so much on offer, it's easy to get lost. The most resourceful visitors simply follow the blue line marked out along the route. Those less in the know can download the NUIT BLANCHE app to make sure they find their way. A bar crawl is also a Nuit Blanche tradition. For the occasion, bars stay open later than usual. Naturally, the Nuit Blanche routes are meant to be explored on foot. You can, however, use the "Vélib'" bike-share service or public transit. RATP and SNCF exceptionally extend bus and metro lines until 2am. Some stations even stay open all night, and the Noctilien night bus runs from 12:30am to 5:30am.

How to get there

Nuit Blanche offers direct routes following clearly defined itineraries. If you live in Paris, taking public transit is a good idea. Otherwise, it's best to drive back to the outer suburbs, as the roads are clear at these hours.
